Yorke completed our first project with The Mellon foundation in 2006, the project was an ambitious 45,000/sf out-of-the-ground campus development on 61st Street directly behind their headquarters. Once the Three adjacent townhomes were purchased the team embarked on the project, which sought to provide Mellon with a significant amount of growing room for their highly successful foundation.
Today, Yorke continues to foster our relationship with the Mellon Foundation. The foundation, once again, is expanding and in need of more space. A recently acquired townhome on 62nd street, adjacent to their HQ building, is currently under construction. The project is focused on expanding the building footprint to garner as much space as possible within the existing party walls. New rear façade, re-elevated floor systems and new building systems are part of the work in store for this recent addition.
Along with the 62nd street expansion, Yorke was tasked with working with the foundations engineers to replace aging HVAC equipment at the 61st street location we helped bring to fruition in 2006. Cooling tower, RTU’s, boilers and pumps all will be replaced with new and efficient equipment.
